Islamic Extremism in Kuwait: From the Muslim Brotherhood to Al-Qaeda and other Islamic Political Groups (Durham Modern Middle East and Islamic World Series)
This book is the first to provide a complete overview of Islamic extremism in Kuwait. It traces the development of Islamist fundamentalist groups in Kuwait, both Shiite and Sunni, from the beginning of the twentieth century. It outlines the nature and origins of the many different groups, considers their ideology and organization, shows how their activities are intertwined with the wider economy, society and politics to the extent that they are now a strong part of society, and discusses their armed activities, including terrorist activities. Although focusing on Kuwait, it includes overage of the activities of Islamist groups in other Gulf States. It also discusses the relation between Ruling Families with Islamist political groups, thereby demonstrating that the intertwining of Islamic ideology and armed activities with politics is not a new development in the region.

What should my world history research paper be about?
It should be from year 1300-2000
I was thinking about doing the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, but my teacher said I should research a specific aspect on it. For example, US Forces in Kuwait, or reasons of invasion.. like I should focus on part of the event and research about it.
But anyways a lot of girls in my class are going to choose it so.. can anyone give me a different topic? I'm having a hard time choosing what the paper should be on.. oh and note that:
I have to have primary sources (documents written at the time)
Secondary sources that interpret and analyze the primary sources
Visual sources are needed too*
This is a 4-page thing I really wanna do great at so.. I need an aspect of an event that occured in the world that has a LOT of info about everywhere, and all the sources I listed!
Pleaseeee help! thanks in advance!!
Let me say I am a 3rd year college student with a Major in History emphasis on Middle Eastern Studies. By now I've done a lot of writing and research papers, some over 15 pages. My advice is to choose something not so recent (I know it seems like a long time ago, but in terms of history it is recent). A rule of thumb when selecting a topic is to write on a subject that is at least 20 years old, because then there will be plenty of sources to pull from, journal and new paper articles, possibly documentaries and new broadcasts. If you are looking for secondary sources, look at book reviews for any primary sources you're using. Perhaps you have a newspaper article that seems very opinionated. Research the author and find out what his colleagues are saying about him. Another rule to keep in mind with articles is that it is best to find one or two sources that agree. For your paper, you may want to find one that agree with your opinion (was it right or wrong to invade). You could write on the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, or on Lady Jane Seymore who ruled England for 6 days. Lastly, if you are intent on writing on the invasion, I would suggest researching a prominent figure in the war. It is always easier to write about a person than an event.

That's a big topic and possibly a bit recent- you could get bogged down in the whole Middle East conflict and it will be tricky to narrow it down. Some suggestions: Battle of Britain day (lots of recent stuff on that as it was 70th anniversary just recently so sources like the BBC will have video footage and commentary. Have a look at the BBC web site btw http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/ You can research any history topic on that- it might give you some great ideas if you search around the site- all your materials will be there.
