How are things in Kuwait for expats?
I'm considering going back to work in Kuwait after having worked from 2005 to 2007. I understand elections there have ushered in a more conservative government. Has this had an effect on Westerners living and working in Kuwait?

Crime is quite rare, and what there is tends to be fairly minor, however most crime tends to be in the overcrowded Asian parts of town. Groups of 5 or more people out late at night are also seen as a threat and can be taken in by "Competent Security Personnel" for questioning. There are regular police road blocks checking for paperwork to cut down on illegal immigrants. It is also worth noting that almost every Kuwaiti, seems to be a policeman, and there appears to be no "ordinary constable" rank, as every uniform has at least one stripe; when in doubt ask for the captain. The threat from Iraq in the north is ever present, however there is a large military presence in the form of both British and U.S. warships in the Gulf, an RAF squadron of Tornados, U.S. A10 bombers and regular troop maneuvers on the Saudi border provide an adequate deterrent, although the average expat does not really feel this threat.

Islamic Extremism in Kuwait: From the Muslim Brotherhood to Al-Qaeda and other Islamic Political Groups (Durham Modern Middle East and Islamic World Series)
Islamic Extremism in Kuwait: From the Muslim Brotherhood to Al-Qaeda and other Islamic Political Groups (Durham Modern Middle East and Islamic World Series)
This book is the first to provide a complete overview of Islamic extremism in Kuwait. It traces the development of Islamist fundamentalist groups in Kuwait, both Shiite and Sunni, from the beginning of the twentieth century. It outlines the nature and origins of the many different groups, considers their ideology and organization, shows how their activities are intertwined with the wider economy, society and politics to the extent that they are now a strong part of society, and discusses their armed activities, including terrorist activities. Although focusing on Kuwait, it includes overage of the activities of Islamist groups in other Gulf States. It also discusses the relation between Ruling Families with Islamist political groups, thereby demonstrating that the intertwining of Islamic ideology and armed activities with politics is not a new development in the region.

My friend and i are uae expats who wants to visit kuwait for 3 days, can we get a vis from kuwait airport?

It all depends on yuor nationality which is unknown. Therefore please check Kuwait visa rules yourself http://www.kuwaitiah.net/ministry.html GCC citizen can obtain a visa up on arrival but not UAE residents which would need a pre arranged visa anyway. Beside through Kuwait Airlines visas also can be obtained through the Embassy.
What is your honest opinion about Kuwait?
This question is mainly directed to the foreigners, expats, guestworkers, visitors, etc who have been to Kuwait and/or still living in it. As a Kuwaiti, I'd like to know your opinion about the country from different perspectives. So, feel free to express yourselves honestly without any hesitation. I won't be offended by your opinions. In fact, I encourage you to share any experience you've had in the country, be it good or bad. Also, feel free to post any link if you think the website is worth sharing.

its a very closed in society you can be born there and still not be a citizen i think that stinks, the downtown are is not so nice but the enclaves and clusters of homes seem to be grand some nice eateries but all in all not a great place
