How is life like in Kuwait? Is it really beautiful?
I saw on Oprah that Kuwait is a really beautiful place and living there is pretty good. And that there are no slums and college is free and life is pretty good. Is that really true?

I don't how old is Oprah's show, but some of things mentioned in your question are not true. But is Kuwait beautiful and is living there is pretty good? Definitely Yes: cheap cost of living, no taxes, cheap fuel, nice people, variety of activity (restaurants, parks, etc.). But for a Westerner, you can forget few things: no alcohol, no nightclubs. Decency is required, but Kuwait is not as strict as Saudi Arabia in dress code. No slums, free college: Yes, for holders of Kuwaiti nationality only. Slums exist especially in suburbs where cheap laborers (mainly from Asian countries) live. However, some poor Kuwaitis live in conditions which may be regarded as living in slums, in Kuwaiti standards. Public schools are free, but many like to get their children into Western-style education, so many Kuwaitis pay to get their children into private foreign-speaking schools. At post-secondary level, Kuwait University and some diploma-level institutions offer free education for Kuwaitis. But as Kuwaitis increase in number, it is getting harder and harder to get into these schools. Many private universities and colleges opened in recent years, providing better education that the free colleges, and more and more Kuwaitis are getting into them for a fee. If you like to live an average life, Kuwait is good. Don't expect high standard of services like in Western countries, but many services are more than just decent. They are pretty good, if not excellent. Kuwait is improving, and like always, it is doing better than most countries in the region. Many regard it as the best. And I surely do, thanks God.

Islamic Extremism in Kuwait: From the Muslim Brotherhood to Al-Qaeda and other Islamic Political Groups (Durham Modern Middle East and Islamic World Series)
Islamic Extremism in Kuwait: From the Muslim Brotherhood to Al-Qaeda and other Islamic Political Groups (Durham Modern Middle East and Islamic World Series)
This book is the first to provide a complete overview of Islamic extremism in Kuwait. It traces the development of Islamist fundamentalist groups in Kuwait, both Shiite and Sunni, from the beginning of the twentieth century. It outlines the nature and origins of the many different groups, considers their ideology and organization, shows how their activities are intertwined with the wider economy, society and politics to the extent that they are now a strong part of society, and discusses their armed activities, including terrorist activities. Although focusing on Kuwait, it includes overage of the activities of Islamist groups in other Gulf States. It also discusses the relation between Ruling Families with Islamist political groups, thereby demonstrating that the intertwining of Islamic ideology and armed activities with politics is not a new development in the region.

What would be the monthly cost of living in Dubai and Kuwait for a couple and 2 kids to live a decent life?
A couple of websites put it at USD 4500 max, but a couple of others have told me it would be much more both in Dubai and Kuwait. Some clarity from real people who know, will help. thanks.

Dear The cost of rent for a 1 bedroom apartment will be somewhere around ADE 70,000(minimum) p.a. and you will need to pay it completely in advance (if u get 2 instalments u r lucky) for a reasonable location. House hold expenses (including travelling )vary depending upon ur habits but for 4 people moderate spending will cost ADE 45,000 p.a. school fee will be again dependent on which kind of school u want to send ur kid (also nationality matters eg u want to send ur kid to Indian/Filipino/other school) ADE4,800 to ADE 18,000 pa. For 2 multiply it by 2. For Kuwait ur main saving shall be rent i.e. almost half. Other things shall also be less.
How is life for a disable person in Kuwait?
Hi, I am from India. My husband has to move to Kuwait for his job. As I am physically challenged & have a kid too I am quite apprehensive about the shift. It would be a great help if anyone can answer these queries genuinely. 1. Is Kuwait a disable friendly country? 2. Is the educational system at par with the international standards & globally competetive? 3. Is it possible to get household help for routine jobs like cooking, cleaning, baby sitting etc.?If yes how much does it cost a month? 4. What is general reaction of kuwaiti people towards foreigners especially disables? looking forward for an honest & dependable answer. Thanks

I'm from Saudi Arabia, since we share a border with Kuwait and I have been in there once I'll try to answer your Q's. 1- I'm not sure but most likely yes. 2- They do have a good educational system. 3- Yes and it's popular there, it costs around 200$. 4- In general, they are very good people and very helpful.
